Rob Zombie is ready to rock again.

The shock-rocker has released a new song, “Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Super Town,” his first new music since 2010 full-length, Hellbilly Deluxe. The track will be the first single from Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor,Zombie’s forthcoming fifth solo album, due on April 23.

Zombie, who has spent much of the past decade establishing his name in Hollywood (he’s directed such flicks as The Devil’s Rejects and a reboot of ‘80s horror classic Halloween) recently told Metal Hammer how he balances his love of music with movies and TV work (he directed an episode of CSI:Miami in 2010.

“I used to do one or the other. I would do a movie that would take me away for two years, then I would come back and do some touring,” Zombie said in the interview (via “I always felt like I had to re-fire up the music because you lose the momentum.

“But, in the last couple of years I was doing both, where I’d be touring, and I’d shoot the movie but not edit the movie, then go tour some more, and come back and work on the movie and do some more touring,” the former White Zombie frontman continued. “I was trying to keep all the balls in the air, juggling, and it works better, but it’s difficult.”

Zombie teamed up with Marilyn Manson last fall for the “Twins of Evil” tour, which descended into a feud between the co-headliners that came to head during a show in Detroit, where the two traded insults during their respective sets, capped off with Zombie hurling profanities at Manson during a cover of Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out.

Speaking of covers, it has been reported that Zombie will include a version of Grand Funk Railroad’s “We’re an American Band” on Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor.
