Arcade Fire will be releasing their film, The Reflektor Tapes, on September 23, directed by Kahlil Joseph. The movie chronicles not only the making of the band’s fourth LP, Reflektor, but also their massive world tour that began with surprise shows in major cities like New York and L.A. and wound up including a Coachella headlining slot and an arena tour.
Today the band shared a new piece of the film which shows the recording and touring of one of the album’s standout songs, “Afterlife.” The clip shows members of the band work their way through their own individual parts, as well as LCD Soundystem‘s James Murphy handling the knobs and dials for his role as producer. The films director Joseph also directed the film about LCD Soundsystem, Shut Up and Play the Hits, and in this clip he finds his two subjects working together. The film will make its worldwide premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12.
