Rage Against the Machine fans have been wondering all day what the clock on their newly launched website is counting down to.
Billboard is reporting that they are going to announce a new group, which will be called Prophets of Rage and which will feature RATM’s Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk (but not Zack de la Rocha). The group will also include two legendary MCs: Chuck D of Public Enemy and B-Real of Cypress Hill. Prophets of Rage is the name of a 1988 Public Enemy classic song.
The possibility of B-Real fronting this new group isn’t all that far fetched. “If they call me, I’m down,” the Cypress Hill rapper told MTV back in 2001. “Hell yeah, that would be a dream to front them. That’s like today’s Led Zeppelin.”
According to Billboard, who doesn’t cite any sources in their report, the band’s debut is set for the Hollywood Palladium on June 3, with a show at L.A.’s Whisky a Go Go planned as well. A 2016 summer tour is also being considered.
