Sound House 2019: Of Monsters and Men: "We're Kinda Old Now, Ya Know"

The Icelanders talk about making it in America, Game of Thrones and Nanna's favorite place

September 23, 2019

Of Monsters and Men lead singer and guitarist Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir says there are a few mixed feelings when adult fans come up and tell her that OMAM were their favorite band...back in high school.

While co-leader Ragnar "Raggi" Þórhallsson laughs that it means "we're kinda old now," Hilmarsdottir said she feels the compliment in the words nonetheless.

"I like that," Hilmarsdottir said. "I remember what I was listening to when I was 15, 16 and how influential that was to me."

During their interview with Dave Farra at Sound House 2019 inside Inspire Nightclub, Nanna and Ragnar talk about the meteoric rise for the Icelandic collective after the group won a major music competition in their home country back in 2010.

In addition, the pair also discuss the moment they realized the band has truly made it, Nanna's favorite place -- and the feeling seeing one of their songs featured in an episode of Game of Thrones
